GURUGRAM: Homebuyers of Supertech Basera, an affordable housing project in Sector 79, protested at the project site on Sunday against the developer as their flats, booked six years ago, haven’t been delivered yet.

According to buyers, only two of the project’s 15 towers are near completion, while the rest aren’t even 60% complete. Buyers said repeated complaints to Supertech as well as the department of town and country planning (DTCP) bore no fruit.

Launched in 2014 with a deadline of 2018, the developer managed to get environmental clearance only two years later. The deadline for completion of the project was then revised to January 2020. While the project has over 1,900 units, only 200 units are ready, buyers said.

Supertech, however, claimed that it will start giving possession of two towers before Diwali. When contacted by TOI, Supertech chairman and managing director RK Arora said, “Construction work is going on in full swing and possession will soon be offered to allottees of two towers. The remaining towers will be completed in another six months.”

Buyers, meanwhile, said they have paid the full price of their units and want possession at the earliest. “We have had numerous discussions with the developer. Various dates for project completion were shared with the homebuyers, but the project is not even 60% complete after six years,” said Partha Sarathy Hota, a buyer.

“Tower 5 construction is on the 3rd floor of 14 floors but full payment was taken by the builder on time. This is a clear case of cheating. Money should be given back and the contractor should be blacklisted by the authorities,” said Rana Balraj, a buyer.

He added that unfortunately authorities have done nothing and the homebuyers are suffering.

Another homebuyer Ajay Bhayan said, “I have made full payment for my flat but still the structure of my tower 14 is not even up to 3rd floor and if we talk about the complete project then it seems it will take another 4-5 years to complete. We have written to various government agencies such as HRERA and CM window but no response has been received.”
